Frisco residents are talking about The Lake at Grand Park
Residents of Frisco have questions about what happened to The Lake at Grand Park. Please read the FAQs below. If you want your voice to be heard by the city leaders, please join us at the next city work session on this topic. They are open to the public and there is a spot at every meeting to give citizens input.
It is the Grand Park site, bounded by the Tollway (to the east), Cotton Gin (to the north), Legacy Dr (to the west), and Stonebrook (to the south).
Nothing is developed on the +/- 325 acres, other than a temporary walking trail.
We have heard it might cost around $20 M, and possibly be paid out of the previously approved bond money.
Currently the city is planning to keep a creek corridor running through the proposed Grand Park.
The Lake would take up a small portion of the over 1,000 acres available, so there are many opportunities for other park amenities.
We are not aware of any current plans for apartments.

While this is true, none of the other DFW lakes would be so easily accessible to us, Frisco residents, right here in the heart of Frisco for all our citizens to enjoy. Since The Lake would not have motorboats on it, and the water levels would remain fairly constant. The Lake would be a lot safer for kids and adults to participate in water sporting events and water recreational activities, as well as other wellness activities year around such as Yoga, Tai chi, etc.
No. It did not appear that there was very much response, if any, from the residents at the 2021 summer session when the council voted to kill The Lake.
Right now, the city council needs to hear our voices, Frisco residents, saying we want The Lake with all of its benefits for our city. Contact your council members, talk at city council meetings, talk to your friends, and neighbors to encourage them to do the same.
Also, show up and talk at the next Grand Park city council work session, currently scheduled for May 21, 2024.
We believe that for some unknown reasons the city council was provided misinformation about the cost of The Lake, and not told about all the health, wellness, and financial benefits that we, Frisco residents, and the city would receive.
If developed properly, The Lake at Grand Park will become a revenue source of millions of dollars for the city.
No. the Corps of Engineers would require that the creek corridor to remediated first, so that the water would be safe for proposed activities of The Lake.
The creek will need to be remediated, whether The Lake is built or not. In fact, the city would not be required to restore the creek within The Lake footprint since The Lake will be built, thus saving the city money.
It is our understanding that the Corps of Engineers was willing to approve the plans for The Lake and the creek restoration. We are unclear of the status of the City of Frisco progress with completing the Exide cleanup.
It appears that recent city councils have been ignoring the ULI recommendations: https://uli.org/wp-content/uploads/ULI-Documents/2005FriscoReport.pdf?fbclid=IwAR0RU4gkyznBxQ_m7rjry0je6HrzTh0h3chSG47FYcNmo8hh1p9VxiW-lng
